Kult-Turist is a DMC based in Budapest, Hungary, organizing tailor-made cultural and educational programs in Central Europe and the Balkans. Over the last 30 years we organized and operated hundreds of tours, all of them were special for some reason. Just to mention a few from our past: U.S. architects studied Central European architecture, including meeting local professionals like Imre Makovecz; Finnish botanists studied the flora in Hungary; Japanese folk dancers learned local dancing traditions and performed on folk festivals; musicians from New Zealand got hands on experience on Central European folk music traditions.
We organize over 30 programs per year in Central Europe and the Balkans for Road Scholar, one of the biggest educational program provider in the USA.
We also organized many international conferences most of them were connected to the cultural fields. Each conference is unique and we make it even more unique by adding on a thematic walk or tour, connected to the subject of the conference.
To celebrate our 30th anniversary Mr. László Szále a well established Hungarian journalist wrote a book of our story. It is an interview book, which includes personal stories of the most important actors of the first 30 years of our history.
The book is only available in Hungarian at the moment, but we hope to publish an abbreviated English version soon.
The motto of the book by István Monok University professor, Doctor of Academy of Science, Director General of the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences
“In the Matthias Graduale there is a chorus singing on a tiny (ca. 3 inch) initial. In front of them, the songbook, is nail-sized. But to the astonishment of the researchers, under a magnifying glass it turned out that the notes of the score depict a playable melody. So the codex painter wanted to do the perfect job even if nothing could be seen with the naked eye.
This is also the mentality of Kult-Turist team.
It is by no means a coincidence that the wall of the director’s office is decorated with this symbolic initial.”
